Shabby chic double D end

We found this frame as seen in an auction in the south of France of a retired antique restorers possessions. The frame has obviously been stripped ready for restoration. Our price includes the restoration work. The original paint and gilding are in tact although faded and distressed; this can be cleaned and waxed or the bed can be repainted in your choice of colour. This bed would require a shaped base and mattress which we can also supply in your comfort choice.

Upholstery

Some beds retain their original fabrics, condition permitting. However, we do offer an upholstery service.
In this way our customers are able to select a fabric of their choice and participate fully in the restoration process.
Bed frames are offered in natural wood finishes, a wide range of paint effects or can be hand polished to work with your existing furniture.

: Restoration of kingly Charles II 1660 to the abdication of James II 1688, walnut replaces oak, C and S scroll supports introduced. Not as restrained as the Common man style preceding. The Restauration period in antique French furniture was characterized by simple harmonious lines, gentle rounded forms and fine ornamentation. Light woods such as ash, elm and bird?s eye maple were used along with dark woods such is as mahogany and palissandre. The craftsmen employed veneers and inlay and the use of light wood inlay against dark wood grounds or dark wood inlays set into blond grounds, the latter of which was especially popular during the reign of Charles X. Typical decorative motifs included the swan, cornucopia, lyre, rosettes and gadrooning.
